Do you know where your New Year's Resolution is?

This year more people said that they did not set a New Year's resolution simply because it was useless. However, we still have things we want to accomplish...drop some pounds, clear that clutter, (those are the top 2 resolutions)...I have figured it out! Aren't you glad? Here is the real skinny on why we flirt with the possibility of getting these things done and then don't.
Here it is: when we look at that project, we look at everything, all the clutter, all the weight, whatever we are wanting to do and it is overwhelming! It is like looking at the entire elephant.

Solution: Let's break it down into "bite size" pieces. Let's take a junk drawer for an example.
Step 1 Gather Tools: Trash can; small boxes or zipper top bags; and a box for items that do not belong in the drawer
Step 2 Open the drawer
Step 3 Remove everything that doesn't belong in the drawer and either dispose (throw away the trash), put the things that do not belong in the box, what is left, are the things that actually belong in the drawer, that is what you organize!

This process will work with any area you are wanting to organize. Prepare with tools, remove the items that do not belong (put them away after you organize! - stay with the project!) then organize.

So many people shop for containers as their first step. This is only the last step. By shopping first, the containers can become part of the clutter problem. Actually, you may be able to skip the shopping step.(Sorry I know that is the most fun.) After getting rid of the items that do not belong, you can probably re purpose containers that you already have on hand!

I would love to hear your resolutions or intentions you had on January 1, 2010.
